Each month, NHSA Touchpoint shares insights into our latest work to support your programs, our community’s accomplishments and special events, a love note or two, and up-to-date info on Head Start’s highest priorities. This month, we are celebrating Head Start parents! (Last month, we talked about the Child Tax Credit.)
This Month’s Theme: Head Start Parents
This month, we are celebrating policy councils and policy committees. Head Start parents are building programs to better serve all of its children. To all of those tens of millions of parents over the decades who have embraced Head Start and Early Head Start, we salute you!
Love Note
The original framers of Head Start, Dr. Robert Cook and Dr. Edward Ziegler, put family engagement into the original Head Start Act and it has really made the difference in our programs, from lifting up our families to making Head Start stronger.
In Case You Didn’t Know: Head Start Parents Edition
Have you checked out Parent Gauge yet? It is a family engagement assessment tool designed specifically for Head Start and Early Head Start. It is such a great way to connect with families, collect the data you need, and then be able to use those data to really support your community.
NHSA is bringing a new book discussion program to our field. We will read When You Wonder You’re Learning, meet and network with other parents, and enjoy a conversation with the authors at this year’s Parent Conference. Join us!
