Where are we now and how will NHSA use this survey?

  • For months and months, programs have been short-circuited by the acute labor shortage. We know you are hard at work navigating these intense and unique challenges—personally and professionally—to build the safest possible environments for the children and families you serve.
  • NHSA is doing everything possible to get answers and to advocate for additional flexibilities. The results of this survey will be used to further our ongoing conversations with the Department of Health and Human Services, the Office of Head Start, and the Administration.
  • We are still waiting for 1) a final rule from the Administration on the IFC and 2) results from the Texas and multistate lawsuits. Although the lawsuits have not yet succeeded, OHS has not appealed and we do not know if they will.

What can you do now?

There are two things you can do right now to help chart the path forward.

  1. Please complete our survey and share how the IFC has impacted your program. We are looking for one response from every program nationwide.
  2. As ever, NHSA is focusing on empowering our community, maintaining an open dialog, and increasing access to health care, equity, and trust. NHSA is still hosting our weekly stand-up calls. These calls are 15-30 minutes long and provide a forum for Head Start leadership to hear from and share with colleagues across the county. Join us.
