This week NHSA joined 1,070 nonprofits from every state and Washington, D.C., via the Protecting Immigrant Families coalition, in filing comments urging the Department of Homeland Security to finalize their new public charge regulations.

The comments were submitted in response to a February regulatory proposal that would assure eligible immigrant families use of safety net programs without immigration concerns and clearly state a child’s or other family member’s use of federal safety net programs never affects immigration applications.
