NHSA Expands Professional Development with New CDA in Spanish
ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Academy at the National Head Start Association (NHSA) has launched the Child Development Associate (CDA) course in Spanish, created in collaboration with Transcend Translation. This initiative significantly enhances accessibility to essential professional development for Spanish-speaking early childhood educators nationwide.
The CDA credential is vital for Head Start educators serving children from birth through age five, empowering them to implement best practices aligned with CDA competency standards effectively. The Spanish-language course offers educators a deeper understanding of child development, improved classroom strategies, and enhanced professionalism within early childhood education settings.
Delivered entirely online, the CDA in Spanish course offers both flexible on-demand learning and monthly cohort sessions featuring personalized coaching. Participants receive 120 hours of professional development, essential for earning the nationally recognized CDA credential.
“NHSA is committed to removing language barriers in professional development,” said Zuly Vazquez, senior manager of online professional development for NHSA. “Offering our CDA course in Spanish ensures that more educators can excel in their roles and positively impact communities and families.”
NHSA worked with Transcend Translation to hone its ability to translate content into Spanish in an authentic way to ensure precise, culturally sensitive translations of both preschool and infant/toddler CDA course modules, facilitating seamless integration into NHSA’s existing online training environment.
“Partnering with NHSA on this initiative has been incredibly rewarding,” said Cyle Adair, CEO at Transcend Translation. We’re proud to contribute to a project that expands access to critical professional development for educators. Language should never be a barrier to learning or growth.”
For those seeking professional growth in early childhood education, registration is now open. Interested individuals or organizations can learn more by contacting cda@nhsa.org.
