Sign-On: Child Trauma and ACEs Policy Working Group FY23 Funding Priorities

NHSA joined the Child Trauma and ACEs Policy (CTAP) Working Group, a coalition of national organizations committed to preventing and addressing child trauma, to outline Fiscal Year 2023 funding priorities. While many federally supported programs seek to prevent and address adverse childhood experiences, this request draws specific attention to six smaller yet critical funding streams that with increased funding will make a substantial difference in the lives of children and the families and communities we serve. They are: Interagency Task Force on Trauma-Informed Care (SAMHSA); Adverse Childhood Experiences Research (CDC’s Injury Center); Strategies to Support Children Exposed to Violence Initiative (Department of Justice’s OJJDP); Project AWARE (SAMHSA), including Section 7134 school mental health grants; Address childhood trauma through Head Start and Early Head Start (HHS, ACF’s Office of Head Start); and Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) (HHS, ACF’s Children’s Bureau).
