National Head Start Association and Girl Scouts of the USA Partner to Bring Get Ready with Girl Scouts™ Program to Pre-K and Kindergarten Girls

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The National Head Start Association (NHSA) and Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) are proud to partner and offer complimentary access to the Get Ready with Girl Scouts™ Program to Head Start families of rising kindergarten and first-grade girls. This offer is being extended until July 31, 2025.

Designed for pre-k and kindergarten girls who are new to Girl Scouting, this program helps them kick off the summer with confidence, creativity, and new friendships — all while building skills they can carry into the school year.

Expanding on both organizations’ long-standing commitments to childhood development, skill-building, and family engagement, the Get Ready with Girl Scouts™ Program provides high-quality resources to Head Start families across the country — laying the foundation for building courage, confidence, and character in girls’ earliest years.

“Our partnership with Girl Scouts represents what’s possible when two mission-driven organizations come together to support children and families,” said Yasmina Vinci, executive director for the National Head Start Association. “By combining Head Start’s deep expertise in early childhood development with Girl Scouts’ legacy of building courage, confidence and character, we’re helping families feel ready for that critical first day of kindergarten and beyond.”

Families enrolled in Head Start who register for Get Ready with Girl Scouts will receive a complimentary, one-year Girl Scouts membership and three engaging activity books, a surprise welcome gift, and family and caregiver resources. The program includes a series of printable activities and bilingual materials designed to strengthen key developmental skills through play-based learning. From practicing routines and exploring feelings to building fine motor skills, the program’s activities promote readiness across academic, social-emotional, and physical domains.

“It is never too early to prepare girls to be confident, capable, and life-ready,” said Bonnie Barczykowski, CEO of Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA). “We are excited to partner with  NHSA and support families and their girls with fun, flexible tools that help them get ready for the school year ahead.”
