To coalesce, inspire, and support the Head Start field as a leader in early childhood development and education.
Our work results in:
We are committed to the belief that every child, regardless of circumstances at birth, has the ability to succeed in life. We are the untiring voice for 750,000 children and families in communities across all states and territories— plus 250,000 staff and 1,600 grant recipients in the U.S.
To champion policy and institutional changes that ensure all children and families have what they need to succeed.
NHSA has served as the national voice for Head Start on Capitol Hill since 1974. Our work — with and on behalf of the Head Start field — has been varied and far-reaching, championing public funding and cultivating support to help programs serve children, families and communities. We engage with policymakers, shape legislation, and build bipartisan relationships to strengthen Head Start’s foundation and future. By bringing the stories and experiences of the Head Start community to decision makers, we ensure the program remains strong for generations to come.
NHSA is a national community of parents, alumni, staff, and champions working together to tell the Head Start story and strengthen its future. No matter how Head Start has touched your life, there’s a place for you here.
