LeeAnn Spilski Receives Prestigious Aubrey Puckett Memorial Award for Service

COLUMBUS, Ohio – LeeAnn Spilski has been named the 2025 recipient of the Aubrey Puckett Memorial Award, a national honor presented to an individual who exemplifies a deep commitment to the Head Start mission through community involvement and personal growth. The award was presented at the National Head Start Association (NHSA Conference and Expo.

This distinguished award, named in memory of Aubrey Puckett of the PICA Head Start program in Minneapolis, recognizes former Head Start participants or parents who continue to serve and uplift Head Start families. It includes a $500 honorarium and national recognition for the awardee’s enduring impact.

For more than 23 years, Spilski has been a vital force within the Carbon County Child Development in Rawlins, Wyoming — first as a Head Start parent and then as a dedicated educator. Her journey is a powerful testament to lifelong learning and community-centered leadership.

“LeeAnn Spilski’s dedication is truly remarkable,” said Yasmina Vinci, executive director for the National Head Start Association. “She not only nurtures children’s growth in the classroom but also ensures families, especially those facing homelessness, are connected to essential school and community resources.”
