Program: The Sound of Safety: Building Secure Bonds Through Shared Music Making

Description: Touch, eye contact, and talking are some of the most common early bonding tools parents and caregivers receive, but they may be missing out on one of the most powerful items in the toolbox—music. In this workshop, we’ll define what happens in the brains of both grownup and child when they make music together (newborns included!), specific musical activities that spark connection, and why shared music making is the ultimate way to communicate the safety children need to feed positive development in the first few years of life.

Learning Objectives: As a result of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the biological and emotional power of shared music making.
  • Explain why shared music making experiences are so critical to families with young children
  • Demonstrate how to engage children and adults in a variety of shared music-making activities to increase personal and brain connections

Price:

  • Regular Rate: $75
  • NHSA Member Rate: $50
