National Head Start Association Congratulates President-Elect Trump on Election Victory

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Head Start community extends its congratulations to President-Elect Donald J. Trump and Vice President-Elect J.D. Vance on their election.

“From President Lyndon B. Johnson to President Ronald Reagan, President George H.W. Bush to President Barack Obama, Head Start has had deep bipartisan support since its creation nearly 60 years ago,” said the National Head Start Association’s Executive Director, Yasmina Vinci. “After an unprecedented and exhausting campaign, we look forward to President Elect-Trump and Vice President-Elect Vance solidifying their place on Head Start’s list of champions.”

“Our nation is deeply divided. We urge President-Elect Trump and Vice President-Elect Vance to prioritize bridging the partisan divide and get to work tackling today’s challenges in order to build the future our children deserve,” Vinci continued. “We look forward to working with the incoming administration and the incoming Congress to strengthen Head Start in order to build a bright future for all eligible children and their families.”

As the nation’s largest early childhood education provider, Head Start serves 800,000 children and families annually, offering comprehensive education, health, and family support services to income-eligible families, and to children in foster care or experiencing homelessness. Over the past six decades, Head Start has supported and uplifted more than 37 million children and families. NHSA remains committed to partnering with the nation’s leaders to address the critical needs of families and communities across the country, and to work together for a brighter future for all.
