Honoring Aubrey Puckett’s legacy by celebrating Head Start alumni and parents who come full circle—working in programs, advocating for Head Start, and serving their communities with passion and purpose.
This national staff award in memory of Aubrey Puckett celebrates a Head Start alum or parent who now works for a Head Start or Early Head Start grant recipient with active NHSA membership and exemplifies passion for service through speaking up for Head Start, career growth, and community involvement at the program, local, state, or national level. Recipients receive an award of $500 and a commemorative certificate.
Scholarship winners will receive an award of $500 and a commemorative certificate.
Eligibility
Nominees must:
• Have attended a Head Start or Early Head Start program (as a child or parent) for at least one year.Have been a Head Start program employee for at least three years.
• Provide two reference letters from two people who know the nominee in their current role.
• Submit a cover letter that includes:
- The nominee’s personal and family connection to Head Start
- Details of service history, including year started, positions held, etc.
- Examples of advocacy, career growth, and involvement in the community at the state/national level to benefit Head Start families.
• Comply with all NHSA general rules and regulations as listed on the Scholarships & Awards homepage
